In 663 B.C., the Jin Kingdom defeated the Lirong Kingdom. The monarch of the Lirong Kingdom decided to give his second daughter Liji to the Duke of the Jin Kingdom as friendly gesture. Liji gave birth to a son Xiqi, who was very adoreble and loved by Duke Xian. Gradually, Liji became Xian's favorite. Xian even deposed the Duchess Qijiang and named Liji as the new duchess.
One day, the crown prince Sheng'sheng prepared the meat offering for ancestors. Liji poison the meat secretly and then stigmatized him. Sheng'sheng became the victim and died. Then she stigmatize two other sons of the Duke, Chong'er and Yiwu, saying that they were involved in a plot. Chong'er and Yiwu had to take refuge out of the state. Liji asked Xian to designate her son Xiqi as the crown prince.
In 650 B.C., Chong'er and Yiwu came back and told Xian the truth. Liji was executed finally.
